Smoking and dental implants

If periodontal pockets are not treated, tissue destruction and bone resorption will continue, which will cause tooth mobility and eventually its loss

Smoking is one of the main causes of dental implants failure, studies showed that implant failure rate in smokers was double than non-smokers
Failure rate increases when bone graft is used during implant placement
The situation is worse when the smoker is diabetic or has any medical problems that may decrease immunity
