Why do I need to go to the dentist to clean my teeth?
|
If you did not use the toothbrush, plaque will accumulate on the teeth. With time, the plaque matures and calcium and phosphate will start to deposit on it causing mineralization and formation of calculus. Calculus is hard deposit on the tooth that cannot be removed by toothbrush; you should go to the dentist or hygienist to remove it.
If you did not go to the dentist for calculus removal at this stage, it will start to accumulate under the gingiva, especially in deep pockets which make it more difficult to remove and you need to go to periodontist to remove it, sometimes it need surgery for pocket reduction and calculus removal.
