Soft tissue graft

Periodontal therapy before restorations :

It is very important to examine the gingiva and treat all periodontal diseases before any final restorations. This step is ignored by many dentists which may lead to teeth loss due to periodontal diseases.
(see the link: Treatment of periodontal pockets).

Crown lengthening :

Crown lengthening is done to expose deep subgingival caries, to elongate short teeth before crowns, and to eliminate or minimize gummy smile during esthetic periodontal procedures.

A minimum distance of 3 mm should be maintained between the margin of restoration or crown and bone that surrounding the tooth. Putting the restoration closer to the bone (less than 3 mm) may cause chronic periodontal diseases.

Bone graft :

Bone graft before prosthesis is one of the cosmetic surgeries to replace resorbed bone after extraction. Bone graft is done to give the normal ridge shape under the prosthesis.

Soft tissue graft :

Soft tissue graft is one of alternative cosmetic surgeries to bone graft to give the normal ridge shape under the prosthesis.
