AlloDerm

In this surgery, the tissue from cadavers (all cells removed) is used to cover the root in the same manner like connective tissue graft. Also this surgery can be used in highly esthetic areas as the color of healed tissue resembles that of adjacent tissue.

The main advantage of this technique is eliminating the need for harvesting a graft from the palate. The other advantage is the availability of this graft for coverage of multiple or generalized recession where the palate is not enough as donor site.

This technique is used in highly esthetic areas, to treat multiple recessions, or when the patient refuses to use the palate as a donor site.

One of the disadvantages of this technique is the cost of the graft (700-1000 SR). There are some cases where the use of this graft will not give good results. The periodontist is the one who can decide if this technique is the right one for your case or advice you otherwise.

The results of this surgery is as follows:

Recession in upper left first premolar

The flap is elevated and the recipient site is prepared

AlloDerm is trimmed to fit the recipient site

AlloDerm is sutured to recipient site

The flap is coronally positioned to cover the graft

After one month of healing, notice complete root coverage
