Local antibiotic delivery inside the pocket

 

Two commonly used chemotherapeutic agents are:

Arestin™: composed of 1 gm Minocycline  
Atridox®: composed of 10% doxycycline hyclate  

   
  Arestin™ is supplied in pre-filled deposable plastic syringe  

   
  The plastic tip is inserted in the pocket and the antibiotic is injected inside the pocket  

   
  Atridox ® is supplied as two syringes system  

   
  Twist and lock the two syringes. Inject the liquid contents of Syringe A (indicated by purple stripe) into Syringe B (doxycycline powder).  

   
  Push the contents back into Syringe A, attach the blunt cannula, and bend the cannula to resemble a periodontal probe.  

   
  Insert the cannula into the pocket  

   
  Fill the pocket with Atridox® gel
 

   
  Pack the material inside the pocket using plastic filling instrument  

   
  Atridox ® inside the pocket
