In a step that reflects the Kingdom’s continued advancement in supporting medical talent and scientific research on a global scale, the European Paediatric Neurology Society (EPNS) has awarded Dr. Anas Al-Yazidi, an intern at the Faculty of Medicine, King Abdulaziz University, a prestigious research fellowship in recognition of his outstanding project on medication reconciliation in pediatric neurology clinics.
As part of its annual fellowship program, the EPNS selected Dr. Al-Yazidi to join The Royal London Hospital as a visiting physician and research fellow in pediatric neurology. His selection honors his contribution to a multicenter study titled:
"Multicenter Prospective Study on Medication Reconciliation in Pediatric Neurology Clinics: Accuracy, Predictors, and Clinical Impact."
The project aims to enhance patient safety and improve pharmaceutical care by assessing the accuracy of medication reconciliation, identifying its predictors, and evaluating its clinical impact.
The study is being conducted under the leadership of prominent consultants and specialists from across the Kingdom, including Dr. Heba Qashqari and Dr. Rowan Daghestani from the Pediatric Neurology Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah, and Dr. Osama Muzfar from King Abdulaziz University Hospital. This collaborative effort aims to elevate clinical practice standards in pediatric neurology nationwide.
The fellowship enables Dr. Al-Yazidi to complete the research component of the project while receiving advanced clinical training at a leading European center. He will collaborate with Dr. Maha Awadallah at The Royal London Hospital, in recognition of his excellence in neurological care and patient safety practices.
Upon completion of the final data analysis, the research findings are expected to contribute to improving standards for medication reconciliation in pediatric neurology.
The European Paediatric Neurology Society (EPNS) is among the world’s foremost organizations dedicated to the advancement of pediatric neurology through education, training, and research. Its membership includes leading physicians, academics, and researchers from across Europe and beyond.
The EPNS Fellowship Award offers physicians the opportunity to gain advanced expertise in specialized fields such as epilepsy clinics, neurophysiology, neuromuscular disorders, and clinical or basic research, through 3-4 month training programs at accredited centers across Europe.
This fellowship underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to empowering its medical professionals globally and fostering a new generation of physicians equipped to make meaningful contributions to pediatric neurology, both in healthcare and scientific research.
