King Abdulaziz University, through its Endowment for the Language of the Qur’an, in
partnership with the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language, has launched the
second edition of the Arabic Language Experts Qualification Program. The program officially
began on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the University Council Hall, in the presence of Dr.
Tareef bin Youssef Alaama, President of the University, and Prof. Saad Al-Qahtani, Head of
Educational Programs at the Academy.

This international initiative is designed to enhance the capabilities of professionals
specializing in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. It aims to develop participants’
linguistic, pedagogical, cultural, and leadership skills, enabling them to play a more impactful
role in spreading the Arabic language globally.

The four-week program includes 24 participants representing 18 countries from around the
world. It features a comprehensive structure of 80 hours of hands-on training and 60 hours
of enrichment activities, including academic lectures, applied workshops, peer evaluations,
field visits, and attendance at university-level specialized courses.

The program focuses on elevating teaching practices in Arabic as a second language,
promoting cross-cultural academic exchange, and fostering a global network of Arabic
language educators. It also contributes to increasing awareness of the historical, cultural,
and civilizational value of Arabic on the international stage.

According to Prof. Abdulrahman bin Rujallah Al-Sulami, Executive Director of the Qur’an
Language Endowment, this program is the first of its kind to focus on in-service Arabic
educators, providing them with the tools to transfer acquired expertise to their home
communities. It is part of the ongoing implementation of the cooperation agreement
between King Abdulaziz University and the King Salman Global Academy.

Prof. Al-Sulami added that the initiative underscores the university’s commitment to
supporting the Arabic language and extending its global reach, in alignment with the
Academy’s efforts to expand Arabic instruction worldwide and to enhance curricula,
content, and pedagogical standards for non-native speakers.
